Regardless of the colour of the sky, aircraft contrails are almost always visible in the skies over West London. I don't understand residents who moan about the noise coming from Heathrow; if you don't like it, don't live in a suburb that's under the flight path.
Back in the day, I lived in a small cottage that had landing lights at the end of the garden ... so that these guys could see to land without taking our roof off.

Couldn't agree more! :)
We live quite near an airport and I actually love seeing the planes overhead. I know sometimes people mention it - if we're all in the garden. But they honestly don't bother me.
I agree totally! We are sometimes on the Gatwick flight path, depending on the wind direction, but to be honest I don't even notice them now.
I lived in the backyard of Washington Dulles airport for 4 years. Certain planes were noticeable taking off if the tv or radio wasn't on. I think you just get used to it. It was nice being able to sit on the deck and watch the planes coming & going.
It's like trains. You don't notice them after a while. We have these passing a little way from our house
Couldn't agree more about the planes. I've had a trip in a hercules, so I can appreciate how noisy it must have been for you!
I often wonder where they're off too and wish I was going with them.
