Photo a Day: 27th February

This photo of The Boy Child, The Brainy One, my FiL and my Sil was taken at 5pm yesterday afternoon.
At 9am this morning, my FiL suffered a massive heart attack and, despite the heroic efforts of the paramedics who worked on him for an hour and a half, he died.
I have no words to describe how I feel right now, but I am trying to take comfort from two things.  Firstly, his last week of life was filled with love and laughter; he was with all his immediate family ~ daughter, son, SiL, DiL and three grandsons.  Secondly, he was struggling to cope with his life without his adored wife of almost 60 years.  He missed her terribly.  It is less than 11 months since she passed away.
I don't know how much blog posting and reading will go on over the next week or so. I'm committed to a Blog Hop post on Thursday afternoon, but it may be all for a while.  It may be that blogging and reading your blogs will prove to be helpful, as it did last time.
Whatever happens, I know that you'll understand.

Oh Ruth, how terrible for you all! I am So sorry to hear this. I hope you will be able to comfort each other and that everything goes smoothly with all the inevitable arrangements.
I'll be thinking of you - I remember how shocked we all were when my boyfriend's father died (we were together 13 years and his dad was like my fil really). Dad B had a stroke.
I am sad for you all and will remember you in my prayers.
God Bless you. XXX

Ruth, I am so very sorry for your loss. I am lifting prayers for comfort and strength for you and your loved ones. That last week of love and laughter and family is such a gift. My grandmother's last few days were like that. She passed away 22 years ago and Mama and I were just talking this weekend about how those days filled her with great joy and we cherish it. Take your time and we'll see you when the time is right for you and yours.
